Small in Scale, Great in Impact

Since 1971, the Dutch School (formerly Netherlands School Society) has been a trusted place for Dutch and international families in Nairobi. A place where children learn, discover, and grow, in a warm environment where education, the joy of learning, and community come together.

We believe that greatness lies in the small. 'Small in Scale, Great in Impact' captures how our strength lies precisely in the closeness and connection within our school. Because we truly know each other, children feel safe to be themselves and have the space to learn and grow in their own way.

In our small-scale environment, students, teachers, and parents work closely together. We listen to the voice of every child, encourage their personal talents, and celebrate the small moments that matter, from a good conversation over coffee to a grand Sinterklaas celebration or a helping hand when needed.

We offer the best of both worlds: strong bilingual (Dutch/English) education with an international perspective. With the Dutch core objectives and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), children learn thematically and through discovery, sparking their curiosity and building their self-confidence. Small groups, personal attention, and a close-knit parent community ensure that every child feels seen and valued.

With more than 10 nationalities and cultures within our community, we are proud of both our diversity and our connectedness. Because no matter how far our students later fly, the foundation they build here, in knowledge, in friendship, in the feeling of being together, always stays close.

The Dutch School — Small in Scale, Great in Impact. A place where every child is allowed to grow, and where the small things turn out to be the greatest of all.
